Week One Pass/Fail Report: Independents

Independents Record: 4-4

Pass: Notre Dame, Liberty, BYU

Notre Dame: Kudos for opening against Michigan, and then winning. Wimbush tossed the ball around to several receivers, and kept Wolverines guessing. Defense was outstanding.

Liberty: Flames roll up and pull away in 4th quarter with a 52-10 stomping of Old Dominion. Stephen Calvert tosses 3 scoring passes in win.

BYU: Cougars bunch up Khalil Tate defensively, Squally Canada rushes for 3 scores in win over Arizona.

Fail: U Mass (1-1), New Mexico State (0-2), Army

U Mass: Despite a big week zero win over Duquesne, the Minutemen fail to get off the bus against Boston College. Bounce back time in week 2.

New Mexico State: All of the progress made last season seems like a dead issue after back to back lifeless losses to Wyoming and New Mexico State. Rebuilt offense is scoring just 8.5 points per game.

Army: Black Knights outplayed Duke early, but could not capitalize on opportunities in 20 point loss to Blue Devils on the road.
