League Record For Week 2: 10-4
Pass: Clemson, Virginia Tech, Miami, Duke, Wake Forest, NC State, Boston College, Syracuse
Clemson: The road trip to play Texas A&M was a trap game, without a doubt, and despite allowing 430 yards passing to Kellon Mond, the Tigers still found a way to win in a hostile environment on the road. This is an experience that the Tigers will lean on moving forward.
Virginia Tech: No big deal this week, as the Hokies rolled past FCS opponent William & Mary. Little effort had to be put out, as the Hokies led 38-7 at the half in the win.
Miami: Miami should never be allowed to play a school like Savannah State, but they were able to do so this week, and the Canes, of course, cruised, 77-0.
Duke: Northwestern was a tough assignment in week 2, but the Blue Devils got by, but they still lose Daniel Jones at QB for an unspecified period with a fractured collar bone. That's a bad bit of luck for Duke moving forward.
Wake Forest: There were no issues in beating FCS opponent Towson this week, but giving up over 300 yards passing to Tim Flacco of Towson is concerning. Greg Dortsch continues to impress at WR with a 7 catch game.
NC State got off to a slow start against Georgia State, but cruised to open things up in the second half in a 41-7 win. Ryan Finley passed for 370 yards for the Pack in the win.
Boston College: The Eagles cruised over cold war era rival Holy Cross as RB AJ Dillon racked up 149 yards rushing and 3 scores on just 6 carries.
Syracuse: Eric Dungey passed for 5 TDs as the Orange cruised over FCS member Wagner. Again, cupcakes on parade.
Fail: Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Louisville, Florida State, Virginia
Pittsburgh: The Panthers never got off the bus in a 51-6 crushing blow from rival Penn State. The win occurred for the Nittany Lions even thought they were not as sharp, offensively, as they could have been. It's hard for me to see Pitt being a player in the ACC this season.
Georgia Tech: Paul Johnson just needs to go. This was a bad loss for the Yellow Jackets, who simply could not defend, especially in the 4th quarter, when Tech gave up 21 points in what was a tight game.
North Carolina: If Larry Fedora were half a man, he would have simply resigned after the Tar Heels were blasted out of the building by East Carolina, arguably one of the 2 worst teams in the AAC. North Carolina has been a disaster under Fedora, and this was probably his worst loss. ECU had lost to North Carolina A&T just the week before, for reference.
Louisville: The Cardinals beat Indiana State 31-7, but this game was tied at the half. Indiana State is likely the worst team in the FCS Missouri Valley Conference. That's all you need to know.
Florida State: The Seminoles were pushed around all day against FCS member Samford, and Devlin Hodges torched the Seminole secondary for over 400 yards passing. FSU was lucky to win this game, but before you all torch Willie Taggart, this is a guy coaching mostly Jimbo Fisher players. Put your blame where it belongs.
Virginia: The Cavaliers, who hammered Richmond in week one, could not get it done against a Power 5 opponent on the road, and again, it's tough to see where Virginia gets it together enough to push for another bowl run this season.
