College Football Week 2 Pas/Fail Report: Conference USA

Week 2 Conference Record: 6-8

Pass: FAU, Marshall, Middle Tennessee, Louisiana Tech, FIU, North Texas

FAU: The Owls got back on track offensively this week in a 33-28 win over a pesky Air Force club. Chris Robison passed for 471 yards and 3 scores in the win. Jovon Durante caught 12 passes for 174 yards and a score.

Marshall: It wasn't pretty, but passing grades are hard to come by in CUSA, so I gave the Herd the benefit of the doubt over a tough EKU club. Isaiah Green passed for 278yards and 3 scores in the win for Marshall.

Middle Tennessee: Brent Stockstill passed for 407 yards and 5 scores as the Blue Raiders cruised over FCS member UT-Martin at home. Brad Anderson was good for 6 receptions for 141 yards in the win.

Louisiana Tech: The Bulldogs cruise to a win over FCS member Southern, and the league needs all those wins it can get. J'Mar Simth passes for 380 yards and 2 scores for Tech.

FIU: Panthers get their first CUSA win of the year in a 28-20 battle with Old Dominion. James Morgan passes for 251 yards to and 3 sscores, 2 of them to Jonathon Duhart.

North Texas: Mason Fine passes for 418 yards and 4 scores, as UNT does nothing to dispell that they are the favorite in the West with a 58-16 win over FCS member Incarnate Word.

Fail: Charlotte, Southern Miss, UAB, UTSA, Western Kentucky, Old Dominion, UTEP, Rice

Charlotte: 49ers don't score a point after the half, as Appalachian State rolls to a 45-9 win. Another rough season on the horizon.

Southern Miss: After a promising opener against Jackson State, the Eagles fall flat against ULM in a 21-20 loss at home. Eagles waste a solid Jack Abraham start at QB.

UAB: Blazers are outscored by Coastal Carolina 27-0 in second half in 47-24 loss to Chanticleers on the road. Not a great developmental moment for UAB here.

UTSA: Roadrunners fall apart in second half in loss to Baylor, and are now scoring just 13.5 points per game on offense, while allowing 38.5 per game.

Western Kentucky: Toppers loss to Maine should be all we need to know about Mike Sanford's coaching tenure at WKU. This hire was a mistake.

Old Dominion: Monarchs bounce back from loss to Liberty by taking 20-14 lead at the half on FIU, then they forget how to score in second half in 28-20 loss.

UTEP: Miners have been hammered in back to back weeks against Northern Arizona and UNLV. Scoring just 17 per game, and allowing 41.

Rice: Owls continue to struggle in close action, as they allow 4 passing TDs by Hawaii in loss on the road. Rice may struggle to win many more games than they have. Defense is abysmal.
