College Football Week 2 Pass/Fail Report: Independents

Week 2 Conference Record: 2-4

Pass: Army

Army: In what was not a stellar week for the independents of college football, Army shined brightest by way of a 38-14 win over Liberty, who was coming off a 42 point win against Old Dominion. Darnell Woolfork led the way for the Black Knights with 98 yards rushing and 2 scores in the win.

Fail: Liberty, Notre Dame, U Mass, New Mexico State, BYU

Liberty: The Flames did not have a solid week 2 coming off of the win against Old Dominion. Army controlled the Flames, allowing just 2 3rd quarter TDs for game scoring on the day. Back to Earth for the Flames this week.

Notre Dame: The Fighting Irish may have indeed beaten Ball State, but the performance was terrible overall, and the Irish may have gotten just a bit exposed when they handled the Cardinals by just 8 points. Ball State outscored Notre Dame 10-0 in the 4th, and that never should have happened.

U Mass: The ride that should have been for the Minutemen is coming to a full stop after a 34-13 loss to Georgia Southern. The Minutemen were outscored 17-3 in the second half, and that vaunted offense has been MIA for two weeks now.

New Mexico State: The Aggies are proving that their minor bowl trip last season was a blip on the radar, and they are falling to the bottom once again. NMSU ranked dead last in our FBS PRS Rankings this week at #130 out of 130 schools.

BYU: There were a ton of folks believing that the Cougars were going to outright beat Cal last weekend, but the offense fell off the grid once again, and the Cougars were beaten by the Bears, which I had picked in PRS Premium last week. BYU still lacks consistency when it matters.
