Week 2 Conference Record: 6-6
Pass: Boise State, Colorado State, Utah State, UNLV, Hawaii
Boise State: The Broncos rolled up 818 yards against U Conn last weekend, and the Broncos are looking like a team that is fighting for a NY6 bowl bid come December. Brett Rypien passed for 362 yards and 3 scores, while Alexander Mattison rushed for 2 more scores, as the Broncos crushed the Huskies 62-7 on the blue turf.
Colorado State: After a primarily awful start to the season, the Rams stole a win against Arkansas in Fort Collins over the weekend. The Rams outscored Arkansas 17-0 in the 4th, and Izzy Matthews punched it in with 8 seconds left to take the win at home. KJ Carta-Samuels had another big day for the Rams at QB, pasing for 389 yards and 2 scores.
Utah State: USU jumped out to a 33-10 lead at the half and never looked back in a revenge win against New Mexico State in Logan. USU would go on to crush NMSU 60-13. Gerold Bright rushed for 134 yards and a score in the win.
UNLV: The Rushing Rebels continued on with another solid performance, which ended with a win this week in a 52-24 crushing of UTEP in the home opener. Armani Rogers passed for 3 scores, while Lexington Thomas continued with another 100+ yard game, finishing with 127 yards and 2 scores in the victory over the Miners.
Hawaii: The Rainbow show continues, as Cole McDonald lit up the Honolulu night once again by passing for 319 yards and 4 TDs, as Hawaii beat Rice 43-29. John Ursua caught 9 passes for 133 yards and a score in the win, and Hawaii still maintains the best PRS ranking number nationally.
Fail: New Mexico, Nevada, Air Force, Wyoming, Fresno State, San Diego State, San Jose State
New Mexico: The Lobos held Wisconsin close for a half, as the Badgers led just 10-7 at the break before peeling away for a 45-14 win. New Mexico looked as if they had gotten on the bus after the half, as they had zero fight after that. Still, the Lobos did manage to cover, but barely.
Nevada: After trailing Vanderbilt just 17-10 atthe half, the Pack never came back out with any fight, and the Commodores outscored them 24-0 in the second half in a 41-10 loss for Nevada, who now hosts Oregon State this week.
Air Force: The Falcons simply got obliterated by the FAU passing attack on the day, and despite a strong second half performance, the Falcons found themselves too far back to make a meaningful rally stick in a 33-27 loss.
Wyoming: The Cowboys are simply a wreck when confronted with Power 5 opponents, as they lost for the second straight week against a P5 team in terrible fashion in a 40-13 loss to Missouri on the road. Missouri led 16-0 at the half, and the game was already in doubt.
Fresno State: The Bulldogs allowed a winnable game to slide away in a 21-14 loss to Minnesota in Minneapolis. The Bulldogs were down 10-0 at the half, and played from behind all day long. Marcus McMaryion's solid performance was largely wasted in the end.
San Diego State: The Aztecs lost Christian Chapman at QB, and Juwan Washington had to carry 36 times for 156 yards and 3 scores just to escape with a win over Sacramento State in San Diego. The Aztecs have been flat for two weeks now, and get one of the best rush Ds in the nation coming at them this week in Arizona State.
San Jose State: The Spartans are just awful, and I cannot conceive of a game in which they would be favored in. They got hammered once again last weekend against Washington State, and now have to face Oregon for the first time in 20 years this week.
