College Football New Head Coaches Preview: Sean Lewis, Kent State

Sean Lewis, Kent State
In my opinion, this may have been one of the worst hires of the 2018 carousel season. Lewis is coming off of a stint as Co-OC at Syracuse, where he has coached under Dino Babers for the last 2 seasons. He worked with Babers as Co-OC with Babers at Bowling Green as well for one season, and worked on the same staff as WR coach in 2014. He also worked with Babers as WR/TE coach at Eastern Illinois in 2012-13.
The only time that Lewis was an actual full OC was at Richards High School in 2007-09, and he was in his early 20s then. He is just 32 years old, and has never been a head coach before, and has never had a full coordinators post in the college game.
Kent State is simply too damaged a program to hand over to someone with no head coaching experience, and to someone who has had limited experience overall. My hopes are with him that he can shock everyone and get this done, but if Paul Haynes couldn't do it, that could spell disaster here. Kent State has long been a head coaching graveyard, so good luck.
Kent State opens at Illinois this week.
