Big 12
Still in it: Texas, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Iowa State, Texas Tech
On the Edge: Oklahoma State, Baylor
Elimination Zone: Kansas, Kansas State, TCU
The Breakdown: This is currently a 3 horse race with Oklahoma, Texas, and West Virginia. We get a big elimination test this week between WVU and the Longhorns, and then there should be 2, if Oklahoma can handle Kansas State, and they should be able to do so. Luckily for Texas, their loss in conference play came to Oklahoma State, who still would have to catch Texas from behind in the standings. For Oklahoma, their loss is to Texas, so their goal is to win out, and cheer for WVU to handle Texas this week. That would put Texas back in a chase position. For WVU, they lost to Iowa State, who is nipping at their heels. A loss by the Mountaineers, and an Iowa State win over Kansas this week, would put the Cyclones ahead of the Mountaineers, and would crush WVU entirely moving forward.
Iowa State is scorching right now, and defeated Texas Tech last week, placing the Red Raiders on the far outside moving forward. The Red Raiders cannot afford another loss, and need a bit of help moving forward.
