Conference Title Chase Update: ACC

Clemson can lock up the Atlantic Division this week with a win over Boston College on the road. If the Tigers get the win, the division is locked up. If they lose to BC, the Eagles would win it by winning out. Clemson has one more ACC game against Duke at home next week, while BC has Florida State, and what seems like a meaningful game against Syracuse in the finale. Here is how it breaks down:

Clemson wins if: They beat Boston College. If this were to happen, Clemson locks up the division title. If Clemson loses to BC, they would then need to beat Duke, and hope for a BC loss to Florida State or Syracuse.

Boston College wins if: They beat Clemson, and then insurance would be a Duke win over Clemson, but that would not be necessary. The Clearest path is for BC to beat Clemson, and then win out over Florida State and Syracuse.

Syracuse wins if: Clemson loses to both BC and Duke, and the Orange then beats BC in the finale, and Louisville this week. It's a long shot, but there is still a path that would make sense.

The Atlantic is much more of a mess. Pittsburgh took control of the division last week by beating Virginia on the road, but there are still some wires out and about here.

Pitt wins if: They win out. The Panthers have to beat their own inconsistency by beating Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and Miami. A loss to Virginia Tech this week would be a disaster that would hand the Hokies the chance to control their own destiny.

Virginia wins if: The Cavaliers now need Pitt to lose twice in the final 3 weeks, which could happen. Virginia has a meaningless game against Liberty this week before a 2 game stretch against Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech. The Cavaliers need both of those wins, as a loss would essentially end the run.

Virginia Tech wins if: They beat Pitt and then beat Virginia in the finale. There is also a pesky game against Miami in there to mix things up. Essentially, the Hokies only option here is to win out.

Georgia Tech, Duke, and Miami are still alive statistically, but we are only talking in terms of reality here.
