What To Expect From College Football Week 6: ACC

ACC
Not much has changed this season over last season. If the conference title game were to be played today, Clemson would likely be taking on Virginia Tech or Miami, which is almost a carbon copy of how things went down last season at this point. The only major difference in the Atlantic Division is that both Florida State and Louisville are abysmal on most fronts.

Florida State has a shot to change the dynamic of what has been a lost season so far against Miami this weekend, but the Noles are a 13.5 point dog in this meeting. Still, expect FSU to show up as they always do against the Canes. Florida State probably does not win this game, but they certainly can push a Miami team that is hell bent on not living up to expectations on a weekly basis.

How do we explain Virginia Tech losing to Old Dominion one week, and then beating up on Duke the next week? There simply is no explanation but to say that Virginia Tech, like many teams in 2018, is simply wildly inconsistent from one week to another. It's a common theme. A game against Notre Dame is a great chance to prove that the Hokies can bounce back even higher, but it won't help with the ACC standings.

Clemson should have lost last weekend against Syracuse, but the Orange had no killer instinct in what could have been a massive win for them, and Clemson slid away with a win with a QB playing who had been a 3rd stringer the week before. Clemson has had weeks like this before where they tend to play to the level of the comp, and it's bitten them before. Will it bite them against Wake Forest?

Boston College and NC State are normally ACC title hunt pretenders when it comes out in the wash, and this season may be no different despite their hot starts. The real deal will surface this weekend in a game that figures to be tough. NC State has always struggled against BC, and both sides have equal chances at a win here.

Coaches Who Need a Win This Week: Bobby Petrino, Louisville; Paul Johnson, Georgia Tech; Pat Narduzzi, Pitt
