Southeastern Conference
Still In the Hunt: Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Alabama, Texas A&M, LSU
Elimination Mode: South Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Auburn, Arkansas
Florida: The Gators will be in a position to win the East, if they can beat Georgia next week, and they should be favored in their final 2 league games against Missouri and South Carolina, both at home. The only issue remaining is that the Gators have to have Kentucky lose a game, as the Cats already have beaten the Gators this season, and also have just one loss in SEC play.
Georgia: The Bulldogs took a terrible stumble against LSU last week. They head into a bye week to prep for the Florida game, which they absolutely have to win, and the Bulldogs would then need to beat Kentucky the following week to maintain control in the East. Either loss places UGA in a very bad position. Losing both would essentially end the season.
Kentucky: The Wildcats are the wild card. They have already beaten Florida, and if both win out, Kentucky wins the East. Kentucky should be favored against Vanderbilt and Missouri in the next 2 weeks, and then would come a must win game against Georgia in Lexington. Kentucky should be favored to beat Tennessee in the league finale, and then wraps with 2 non con finale games before bowling season.
Alabama: Nobody believes that the Tide will lose a game this season, and they should cruise to an undefeated record in and out of SEC play. The Tide should hammer Tennessee this week, and then comes the final test against LSU 2 weeks after. If the Tide beats LSU in Baton Rouge, only Auburn could really put a stop to this train, and Auburn really is no shape to get that done. this season.
Texas A&M: The Aggies have already lost to Alabama, and so that essentially was an elimination, as Alabama will not lose twice in SEC play. The Aggies have to play at Mississippi State next week, and also still have Auburn and LSU left on the slate. The deck is amazingly stacked against the Aggies at this point.
LSU: The Tigers have a test against Mississippi State this week, and they should pass that test. In two weeks after the MSU game, Alabama comes to town. If LSU can beat Alabama, and they have a shot, and then they win out, LSU wins the West in shocking fashion. It's possible. LSU should win against both Arkansas and Texas A&M in SEC play, and should crush Rice out of it. LSU is the only team in the league right now that has a shot against Alabama.
