Bilo's College Football PASS/FAIL Reports Week 7: AAC

PASS: Memphis, Houston, USF, Temple
USF was the biggest winner from this group as they overcame early struggles to beat U Conn 42-27 at home in Tampa. The Bulls now maintain the advantage in the East division with a 3-0 record, and are 6-1 overall, keeping in the fight for securing a potential NY6 bowl.
Houston cannot afford to lose again, and barely scrapped out a win over Tulsa, 38-31, at home. The Cougars remain a half game behind Navy, but Navy was postponed against East Carolina due to flooding, and the reality is that Houston still needs two losses by the Middies, all while they continue to win.
Memphis knocked off Tulane, and the Tigers stand between Houston and Navy in the West standings. The Tigers are now 2-0 in league play, also a half game back of Navy, who they have not yet played. Memphis has also not yet met Houston yet, so showdowns loom large.
Temple was down big to UCF and stormed back for a win in Orland, 26-25. The Owls remain in second place behind USF in the East, just one game back. Temple, however, needs two USF losses to steal the crown.

FAIL: Tulane, Tulsa, U Conn, UCF
Tulane remains winless in AAC play with their loss to Memphis, and it is hardly shocking as Willy Fritz is trying to build the program from the bottom up. They were competitive, which being in that position is a look up for the Green Wave.
Tulsa is still just 1-1 in AAC West play, but they seem out of the picture at the moment with higher profile teams giving chase. Tulsa is still 4-2, so a bowl game looks likely.
U Conn is now 1-3 in AAC play, and the Bob Diaco era is going no better than the Paul Pasqualani era had gone. The offense is a disaster, and even the defense is starting to crack.
UCF is now just 3-3 overall, but that is 3 more wins than they had in 2015. Scott Frost is fixing the issues, but still needs more players to do what he likes to do, and that means finding a QB long term. The Knights are still in it at 1-1 in league play, but they blew a huge lead on Temple, and these are games you have to win.

PPD: East Carolina, Navy
