North Greenville Announces 2014 Schedule

Tigerville, SC - Coming off its second straight 5-6 season and the signing of many new faces to the program, the North Greenville University football team announced it 2014 schedule on Tuesday morning. In the final year of the South Atlantic Conference Alliance, the Crusaders will host six home contests at Younts Stadium and travel for five games on the road.
North Greenville opens its 2014 slate at home for the second consecutive season, this time hosting NAIA member Ave Maria University on Thursday, Sept. 4 for a 7 p.m. kickoff. This will be the first meeting between the Crusaders and Gyrenes who are coming off a 9-2 season and possess a high-scoring offensive unit.
Following the season opener NGU will make the short trip to Spartanburg, SC on Sept. 13 for a matchup with NCAA I-AA member Wofford College. The Terriers were 5-6 last season, including a 4-4 record in the Southern Conference.
The Crusaders stay on the road for a second straight week as they travel to Greeneville, TN to take on Tusculum College on Sept. 20. This marks the fourth meeting between NGU and Tusculum with North Greenville holding a slim 2-1 overall advantage in the series dating back to the 2011 season. The Crusaders used a second half comeback in last season's matchup to claim a 39-36 win in Younts Stadium.
Back-to-back home games are next on the schedule as the Crusaders host Brevard College on Sept. 27 followed by a matchup with Limestone College on Oct. 4 inTigerville. In three meetings since 2011 the Crusaders have never lost to the Tornados, while the Saints will begin their first season of football next year.
On Oct. 11 the Crusaders travel to Hickory, NC for a matchup with Lenior Rhyne University, who holds a decisive 5-1 edge in the overall series dating back to the 2009 season. The Bears are fresh off a 13-2 record last season a runner-up finish in the NCAA Division II Playoffs.
The 2014 Homecoming game will see NGU host rival Mars Hill College on Oct. 18, followed by a trip to Jefferson City, TN on Oct. 25 to take on Carson Newman College.
North Greenville will host Wingate University on Nov. 1 in Tigerville, before ending the road portion of its schedule on Nov. 8 with a contest against Catawba College in Salisbury, NC. The final game of the 2014 regular season with also the be the final home game for the Crusaders when they host in-state rival Newberry College on Nov. 15.
Tickets for the 2014 North Greenville University football season can be purchased in advance or at the gate before every home game in Tigerville.
Season tickets for the 2013 NGU football season can be purchased by contacting the NGU Crusader Club. Season tickets for Crusader Club members are $30 and $40 for non-members. Additionally, interested fans can purchase a reserved parking pass for only $25. Discounted season tickets for children can also be purchased.
A special opportunity that may be attractive to loyal supporters of North Greenville football is the 'Legacy Football Seats.' These special seats are $500 each and proceeds go toward athletic scholarships. Legacy seat donors will have their name affixed to the seat in prime fifty yard line positions, and other major contributors to the university will be seated around them.
